Q&A WITH NICOLE
We love India’s name, how did you come up with her name and is there a significance to it?
I’ve had a list of unique baby girl names for years! I wanted something that you don’t hear often. We have always wanted to visit India and I am a huge fan of India Arie. Her middle name, Moon, was a last minute decision… at first I was going to go with India Star (because of my love for the movie The Lost Boys) but Moon had a better flow to it.
What’s something about motherhood that surprised you the most?
How quickly you’ll become a morning person! I used to never think it could be possible for me to wake up at 6am and function after only 4 hours of sleep, but your child will show you that you’re a lot stronger than you ever thought you were.
What’s the most rewarding part of being a mom?
Watching India grow and show her little personality; showing me all the things that she knows and has learned. I’m just in awe of how smart and funny she is, and knowing that I created her never ceases to amaze me.
What’s the most challenging part of being a mom?
Having enough energy to keep going is the hardest part. I work 24/7 and am also very hands on with her and all of her activities. It’s tough to do, but you muster it up somehow to keep going.
As a mom, what’s your take on jewelry and heirlooms? Did your mom have a signature piece of jewelry you remember growing up?
Oh, I am completely obsessed with vintage jewelry and passed-down heirlooms. I love jewelry that holds memory. I actually have a charm of my moms that she wore when was a baby – I remember always grabbing it and holding it, and now I wear on my chain! I also have some of her rings.
What’s your personal jewelry style? Do you prefer dainty or statement jewelry?
I love a a ton of dainty, layered chains with charms and lots of bracelets, (and anklets too!) mixed with big statement rings… so… BOTH!
What’s your favorite way to spend your “me time” when you need a little break? What’s your go-to trick for feeling like yourself again after a long day?
I love to go and get my nails done, get an extra foot rub, and maybe get a relaxing hour-long massage. Maybe even shop a little, and just take my time getting back home. It’s like a nice little reset.
If you had to pick one piece of jewelry to match with India, what would you pick and why?
I’d say matching rings… mine would say ‘India’ and hers would say ‘Mommy’
What’s the best Mother’s Day gift you’ve ever received?
My husband and India gifted me a Dior pearl and gold ring on my first Mother’s Day.
What made you want to partner with BabyGold?
I love all of BabyGold’s pieces. They’re unique; a lot of them look vintage and I love the custom designs and names you can add onto literally everything.
