Bracelet Size Guide: Finding the Perfect Fit

This guide was reviewed by Baby Gold's jewelry team. Baby Gold is owned by third-generation jewelers with hands-on experience in production, manufacturing, and product sizing.

Choosing the right bracelet size helps your bracelet feel comfortable, sit the way you want, and hold up better during everyday wear. A bracelet that is too small can pull against the clasp or chain as your wrist moves, while a bracelet that is too large can slide around, catch on clothing, or slip off.

✨Not sure where to start? 7" is our most versatile length. It's a classic, everyday fit for the widest range of wrists.

6.5": Petite Fit

Best for smaller wrists or if you prefer a bracelet that sits close with minimal movement.

7": Classic Fit

Our most popular length and a good starting point for gifting. Works well for the average wrist.

7.5": Draped Fit

Best for larger wrists, thicker chains, or if you like a looser, more relaxed drape.

How to Choose Your Bracelet Size

1. Measure your wrist. Start by measuring the part of your wrist where the bracelet will naturally sit.
*Detailed instructions with videos below.

2. Choose your preferred fit. Bracelet fit is partly personal preference. Some people like it to sit close to the wrist, others prefer more movement.

3. Consider bracelet thickness. A Dainty Chain usually feels true to size, while a Chunky Chain or Bead Bracelet can feel smaller since it takes up more space. Consider sizing up by ½ inch for thicker styles.

4. Think about your stack. If you layer multiple bracelets, mixing slightly different lengths - like a 6.5" close to the wrist with a 7" that has a little more movement - helps each piece show and reduces tangling.

Measuring at Home

The simplest way to measure is measuring a bracelet that you already have at home. Lay your bracelet flat and measure end to end, clasp included. Note that a dainty chain and a chunky bracelet can both measure 7", but the chunky one will feel tighter when worn.

A chunky chain bracelet laid flat with a ruler under to measure length.

If you do not have a bracelet at home, no worries. All you'll need is a tape measurer or a piece of string/yarn and a ruler.

  1. Wrap your material around your wrist where a bracelet would naturally sit.
  2. Pull it snug, but not tight. You should be able fit one finger comfortably between the string and your wrist.
  3. Mark where it overlaps, then lay it flat and measure with a ruler.
  4. Measure twice to confirm a consistent number.

NOTE: Your bracelet should not be the exact size of your wrist.

Wrist Measurement Suggested Bracelet Length
6 inches or smaller 6.5 inches
6.25–6.5 inches 7 inches
6.75–7 inches 7.5 inches
  • For a snug fit, add about ¼ inch to your wrist measurement.
  • For a classic fit, add about ½ inch.
  • For a loose or draped fit, add about ¾–1 inch.

How to Measure for Bangles

Bangles are sized differently since they're rigid and some don't have clasps. Instead of your wrist, you need the widest part of your hand so it can slide over your knuckles.

  1. Bring your fingers and thumb together as if putting on a bangle.
  2. Wrap a soft tape or string around the widest part of your knuckles.
  3. Mark the measurement, then add about ¼ inch for comfortable movement.

If you already own a bangle that fits well, measure its inside diameter across the center and compare it to the one you're considering.
